LIVE WIRE – Sydney Live Music Guide November 15th

Briscoe: The Sydney six-piece is comprised of members that have performed in Kid Confucious, Ngaiire and Gin Wigmore amongst others and they’ve come together to create some beautifully crafted blues and country pop that are both dreamy and soulful. The group is celebrating the release of their debut album titled Friends Ago which features the singles B.O.T.S. (Black out the Stars) and the delightful Animal.

The Faults: This two piece packs about as much punch as a young Mike Tyson, as fuzzed out guitar riffage and wailing vocals battle relentlessly with drums to create a raw and untethered brand of bluesy garage rock. The duo have just released their second EP Patients which is an all too short compilation of some ferocious rock ‘n’ roll.

Edoardo Santoni: In Edoardo Santoni Australia has a truly special talent. The jazz singer has to have one of the sweetest male voices around although it’s the deep injection of soul and blues into his performances that are truly moving. Santoni has performed with Ngaiire, Darren Percival, Abby Dobson and so many other amazing musicians and on this night he’ll be joined by a stellar group of musicians in a tribute to his father, the drummer and vocalist ‘Eddie Santos’.

Kylie Auldist: Amidst being nominated for a ‘Best Live Performance’ ARIA with her group The Bamboos, soul diva Kylie Audlist has been dedicating a bit of time to promoting her second solo record Still Life. The new album has been a labour of love for the singer and she’s weaved together lots of personal stories into the show to make it an absorbing event. Auldist has also promised that it’s going to be a non-stop dance affair and we’d have no reason to doubt one of the first ladies of Australian funk and soul.

The Living End: The band wants to thank their fans for the longstanding support they’ve received over the 15 or so years of their career so they’ve concocted the possibly ludicrous plan of touring the country and playing each one of their six albums, start to finish, back to back. That’s every single song they’ve ever released on an album, being played at their shows. An ambitious plan if there ever was one, but considering it’s The Living End it’s sure to work!
