Caravaña Sun: Local gypsy-ska rockers will be bringing their uplifting sounds back to local audiences after spending time entertaining European crowds. They’ve made a name for themselves for being a great live act and on this occasion they’ll be celebrating the recent release of their debut album Rising Falling.

Tuba Skinny: A rag-tag collection of New Orleans street musicians came together in 2009 to form Tuba Skinny, a homage to depression-era blues, ragtime and traditional jazz from New Orleans. The group inspires as they take the music that was born out of hardship in the early 20th century USA and bring it to dance floors for all to enjoy.

Sat, Feb 23rd, The Basement

Jose James: The American jazz-soul singer returns to Australia after a whirlwind tour last year to promote his latest record No Beginning No End. James enlisted the likes of bass player Pino Palledino, pianist Robert Glasper and singer-songwriter Emily King to help put together the album that straddles jazz, hip-hop, R&B and electronica over which he effortlessly laid his silky smooth vocals.

Sat, Feb 23rd, The Standard

Duff McKagan: He played bass in the most infamous band of the 1990s, Guns ‘n’ Roses, for 12 years and Velvet Revolver, but now Duff McKagan has left behind the circus that is working with artists such as Axl Rose, Slash and Scott Weiland to front his own group: Loaded. McKagan hasn’t shied away from making gritty music and sure enough Loaded wail and squeal with raucous guitars and good old rock ‘n’ roll mayhem.

Mon, Feb 25th, Manning Bar

Tomahawk: Hard rock supergroup Tomahawk are back to showcase material from their new record Oddfellows. The group features hard hitting drummer John Stanier (Helmet, Mark of Cain), Duane Dennison (Jesus Lizard), Trevor Dunn (Mr Bungle) and the chameleonic vocals of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle). The latest record, as can be expected, traverses themes that might be uneasy for the faint hearted but thoroughly rewarding for anyone that likes challenging music.

Tue, Feb 26th, Metro Theatre

Amy Rose: Bondi electronic-pop artist Amy Rose will be showcasing some of the ethereal sounds from her latest EP and she’ll be doing so with the assistance of a six piece band that includes your usual rhythm section with the inclusion of the not so commonly seen harp section. Rose herself sings and plays the glockenspiel live so it’s clear for all that she doesn’t just create run of the mill pop music.
