Student Poverty
I recently read the story–‘students sleep out against poverty ‘ in the April 30 issue of City News, and i have something to say.
Based on this topic, i think the fees for failing the course provide much stress on our students. Even though that is a motivation to make us focus on the course, the fees associated with failing a course are higher for the international student. We don’t have any resources to earn the money to pay for this. As i know form my experience, the UTS insearch school requires every student who fails to pay $2,000 for that. Our international students, who are usually having a tough time in Sydeny obtaining education, with the economic problems always around us, should not also have to pay the fees for failing a course.
I think UTS insearch and other school organisations should reduce the fees for failing courses, or apply other ways to motivate the student for learning.
And i think this is a common problem for the international students in Sydney. The government or relevant organisation needs to resolve it from the position of the student.
Regards,
Michael
