Letter to the Editor: Empty Promises
Dear City News,
I read with amusement this week and last your QandA with the candidates for the upcoming election. Each telling us earnestly how they will improve our lives and make everything better.
Do they expect us to forget how quickly these promises will be forgotten once they are in power? Do they expect us to believe they will stick to their commitments?
Or will we once again be faced with consultation instead of action? Watch as internal party politics takes over where they should be taking steps and doing their jobs?
I await with baited breath to see if the next mob of politicians does a better job than the last, or if in ten years we will be gleefully rubbing our hands at the prospect of throwing out the latest bunch forgetting that they are all just the same.
