Letter to the Editor: Alcohol

Dear City News,

I’m getting awfully sick of people blaming alcohol for the crimes of a few idiots and greedy businesses. All the media do is beat it up to sell newspapers and people are left with the idea that there is a much larger problem with alcohol related crime than there actually is.

I go out for drinks with my mates regularly and we rarely if ever see incidents caused by alcohol. And those are always between people who deserve it.

I think people have to take more responsibility and realise if you’re getting in a fight at a pub it’s because you and the idiot you’re fighting with are morons, not because you’re both pissed.
