I am elated to see the NSW State government’s response to Clover Moore’s assault on our city night life (City News, December 17) and the overturning of the DCP.

Ms Moore’s continual clamping down on the vibrant night life of Kings Cross and greater Sydney while claiming to encourage it through initiatives such as her small bars act is at worst deceitful and at best a myopic and shallow consideration of what constitutes ‘night life’.

The suggestion that density of foot traffic through the cross constitutes an offence is in itself offensive and reveals the lord mayor is out of touch

Small bars cannot and will never replace pubs and clubs. The majority of patrons and owners do the right thing and do not deserve to be straightjacketed into such drastically reduced hours.

If Ms Moore wishes to decrease alcohol related violence she should attempt to work with the state government to develop additional public transport for high traffic areas and additional policing rather than take what appears to be an adversarial and antagonisitic approach to her constituents.

Jon Dostovski,

Kings Cross resident
