LEMON DELICIOUS

LEMON DELICIOUS

It’s been nearly five years since the last cabaret by the tart and tasty girls of Lemon Delicious. But they’re back by popular demand and better than ever.

“We’re getting back on the horse with some more lemons and seeing what happens,” says deviser and cast-member Lou Fischer. “It’s a group of girls who have a lot of affinity with each other and it’s been really exciting to get back together again.”

Punters can expect a sexy, silly and sassy show with originals songs such as Don’t Cut Off Your Frilly Bits and twisted takes on some classics. “I Will Follow Him becomes I Will Follow Her. It’s our lesbian stalker song,” Fischer says laughing. The MC for the night is Jude Bowler. “She’ll have some curveballs because she is hysterical.”

This queer cabaret is part of New Theatre’s Mardi Gras celebration. “Cabaret is one of the most acceptable forms of music,” she continues. “We’ve been doing this for over ten years. I love the response afterwards … people are really buzzing. When we do it we feel really empowered.”
