Leichhardt friends raise funds for kids in occupied Palestine

Leichhardt Friends of Hebron are holding a fundraising festival on June 18 to support a kindergarten class in the Mount South Hebron Hills.
They’ve put together a great photography exhibition, fantastic live music, tasty food, fairtrade coffee, stalls, a forum and are also showing the award winning film “Return to Gaza“.
The indoor market features a bookstall, with a wide selection of books on the history, culture and politics of Palestine.
Other stalls will offer artisan olive oil traditionally made by a Palestinian family in Victoria, handy shopping bags, high-quality ceramics, metalwork, textiles and other handmade gifts and decorative objects from Algeria and Morocco.
Genuine Palestinian kuffiyehs from the Hirbawi factory in Hebron will be on sale at this year’s Festival of Friendship.
As well as the traditional black and white pattern, scarves in an array of colours are available. The Hirbawi Textile factory is the only remaining kuffiyeh factory still operating in Palestine buying their products helps provide jobs in Hebron while preserving a significant piece of Palestinian culture.
Leichhardt Friends of Hebron is a community group working to support vulnerable communities in the Hebron region of the Occupied Palestinian Territories  and raise awareness of the issues of human rights and international humanitarian law.
