Johnson joins fight for marine parks

Musician Jack Johnson has joined the fight alongside the Nature Conservation Council to create a new Sydney Marine park.

“The beauty and vitality of our oceans is a constant source of inspiration for my music and life,” he said.

“The largest variety of marine life anywhere in the world lives off Australia’s coast, with many of your special marine creatures found nowhere else on the planet. It is our responsibility to make sure healthy oceans and abundant marine life can be enjoyed by everyone now and in the future.”

The variety of life in Sydney’s marine area is some of the most bio-diverse in the world.

Nature Conservation Council CEO, Pepe Clark, said the upcoming state election presents a unique opportunity for the creation of a new park.

“With the NSW election only months away, we’ll be working hard to secure political commitment for the creation of Sydney Marine Park,” he said.

“But we can’t do it without community support.”
