JOHN KENNEDY – IS THIS NOT PARIS?

Be it sitting in a Parisian cafe, or sipping on your latte in one of Newtown’s finest, the art of sitting and watching the world pass before your eyes is one too often neglected in the modern world. John Kennedy knows more than a thing or two about observing; moving from our inner west, Kennedy spent time in Berlin, Hong Kong, London and Amsterdam – have songs will travel. For Is This Not Paris? Kennedy has some new tunes and some old, re-worked songs, all hung together on the basis of a strong “filmic” theme. The spaghetti-western surf instrumental Emily sits alongside a re-worked, laid back and breezy The Teaxan Thing. Kennedy’s voice has grown over the years, it was always a strong baritone, but it now has a comfortable ease about it that increases his appeal. The title track – all pedal-steel and Dobro – is a gorgeously constructed duet with Megan Heyward in the vein of Johnny Cash and June Carter’s Jackson back on our shores. – via St Peters. Unfortunately destined to remain our secret, it is a delight to have John Kennedy back on our shores. Be it the Champs -Elysees or King St … either way John Kennedy is a king.
