JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD – WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

JEFF THE BROTHERHOOD – WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

Jeff the Brotherhood are Jake and Jamin Orrall and these two brothers have music in their blood – their dad, Robert Ellis Orrall, opened for The Kinks way back in the day, and currently writes songs for Taylor Swift. The opening track Hey Friend kicks in with a psychedelic grunge swirl and some Slash-like guitar work and we are off to a good start, like Weezer on a good day. But then things become a little confused – like Weezer on a bad day – Cool Out is and out and out Ramones rip-off without the humour, while mid-album Endless Fire provides a change of pace but only ends up sounding like it should be on the Twilight soundtrack. Then we are clearly back in Ramones/Weezer territory with Mellow Out and Stay Up Late. Jeff the Brotherhood are providing a little bit of Hey Ho Let’s Go for the new generation, but have little bit of work before they can challenge Joey and the boys for the title.
