JEFF DUFF – FRAGILE SPACEMAN

JEFF DUFF – FRAGILE SPACEMAN

David Bowie’s favorite David Bowie, our favorite Duffo. With a career that now spans 25 albums and more incarnations then the Thin White Duke, Jeff Duff has been everywhere man, he has been everyone. From his beginnings fronting the jazz-rock fusion band Kush in the 70’s, to London in the 80’s and back to Sydney-town, Jeff Duff may have been many things, but the one constant is that he has never failed to entertain.  Fragile Spaceman sees Duff working with former Skunkhour  keyboard player and producer/arranger Paul Searles, who has created a haunting musical environment of drifting melodies and distant beats for Duff to populate with his ethereal lyrics: “It’s a stampede for the desperate / It’s a stampede for the boys / It’s a stampede full of artificial joy”. And Duff’s voice still maintains it’s Peter Pan qualities despite the apparent passing of time, with The Choir Inside My Head a stand out as one of his finest vocal performances in years. What Jeff Duff project would be complete without a nod to Bowie, and Duff closes here with a slow, moody Ziggy Stardust, a definitive cover if ever there was one.
