JARED DIAMOND

For those who are curious about anything and everything, step back in time with Pulitzer Prize winning writer Jared Diamond. His latest event, The World Until Yesterday: What Can We Learn From Traditional Societies, explores things such as why did Spain conquer the Incas and why did the Vikings perish?

Diamond, a biologist and geographer, draws his anthropological knowledge from his decades of fieldwork in the Pacific Islands, as well as evidence from the Amazonian Indians and Kalahari San people.  While the fancy gadgets and developments of the modern world far surpass those of traditional societies, there is much we could imitate and adapt. Ranging from war to child rearing to religion and diet, it’s an event for the extremely technologically dependent, or just for those who want to understand more about the world we live in.
