Improv Comedy Cagefight Comp
If there haven’t been enough laughs in your life recently, if you’ve been going stir crazy at home, if you’ve felt powerless to control anything in your life, here’s the solution to all your woes.
The Chippo Hotel is running what they bill as “Australia’s largest improvised comedy competition” on Mondays from 18 July to 29 August.
The “cagefight” includes six semi-final shows, culminating in the grand final on 29 August. The competition includes 36 teams; a total of 150 performers.
And, amazingly, the winner gets $2,000 cash.
And you get to take the role of judge since the audience chooses which teams go on to the semi-final.
At each semi final, six teams will perform, with the audience choosing their favourite team that will go to the grand final. The remaining teams will be eliminated.
“The Cagefight is an independent production and was launched to give a platform to Sydney’s improvisation comedians. This competition has been put together because of the strong demand from performers and audiences. Most of our audience have never seen improvised formats before – and they love it so much that they often come back,” said Improv Comedy Cagefight founder and performer, David Crisante.
Now how’s that for longform entertainment?
