Ice rampage in Kings Cross?

A man ran amok in Kings Cross, kicking and throwing a black milk crate at cars and passersby before chasing a bystander into “a nearby business premises”, police allege.

An eyewitness said the man chased the bystander up the stairs of the Empire Hotel, threatening to kill him before being “taken out” by a patron. Police and ambulance arrived soon after.

The man was immobilised on a stretcher before being taken away. The incident happened about 6.10pm on Wednesday 21 October.

“Police have issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for Offensive Behaviour to a 34-year-old man,” said a Police spokesperson.

“The arrested man was taken to St Vincents Hospital as a precaution due to possible drug intoxicaton and a minor injury.”

While police did not specify what drugs the man might have taken, frontline social workers in the area report several ice-related incidents over the past week including one where police were called because a woman was “going off her head” and refused to go to hospital. Police took her to St Vincents from where she was later released back onto the street.
