HERE I AM

HERE I AM

Here I Am is being likened to Samson & Delilah. The only relation they have is the same cinematographer and producer. Samson & Delilah is probably the greatest example of Australian cinema in the past ten or more years and garnered praise due to the touching story which never shied away from reality. Here I Am is a competent film, nevertheless it is somewhat formulaic and never allows the audience time to question. With the help of a soundtrack that includes PJ Harvey and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs we see not a strong woman but a woman who needs to come to terms with her past and embrace her future. Karen’s relationship with her mother and scenes with her daughter are touching but it is not enough to save this film from mediocrity. (PS) **
