HEADSPACE

HEADSPACE

With eerie, static-soaked imagery, synths-a-plenty, and obscure samples pillaged from the dusty record boxes of history, seminal electronica group Severed Heads have resoundingly stood the test of time. Thirty-three years after the punk-industrial revolution was kickstarted from the Sydney couches of Richard Fielding, Andrew Wright, and Tom Ellard, and we are still stirred and inspired by their sonic strangeness.

So it seems appropriate that our city’s longest running electronic music collective celebrates its 20th birthday with a tribute album to the group. Headspace brings together 18 remixes, covers and updates from Clan Analogue artists, all in the spirit and shadow of Severed Heads. By all accounts the Melbourne launch got pretty, ahem, heady – so be sure to head along to the Sly Fox to catch Telafonica, Actual Russian Brides, Lunar Module and more, all backed by the modular video synth stylings of LZX Industries.
