GOOD HEAVENS – STRANGE DREAMS

GOOD HEAVENS – STRANGE DREAMS

You may not have heard of Good Heavens the latest trio hailing from Sydney. But I can almost guarantee that you know the musicians behind their psychedelic tunes. Good Heavens is the collaboration of Sarah Kelly from theredsunband and Chris Rose and Myles Heskett, who very publicly left Wolfmother back in 2008. The result? A dream-pop sound with a pinch of rock. The trio’s debut album Strange Dreams has a 70s garage band sound to it, that is pulled off with immense perfection. The first single from the album, It’s Not Easy Being Mean, is a fantastic taster of the album as a whole. The track has Kelly singing about the realisation that nobody likes a funny jerk, accentuating her soft yet powerful voice. The experimental first track I Know Your Own Heart is the perfect opening to the album. With hallucinatory guitar sounds, the decision to reprise the track to finish off the album was a killer choice that brings the album full circle. For lovers of psychedelic tunes Good Heavens debut is a must.
