Glebe cheap housing project still unclear

Several questions asking the NSW Government for more detail about the proposed affordable housing development in Glebe have been left unanswered.
Greens MP Sylvia Hale last month requested that the Minister for Housing, Matt Brown, and his colleagues, specify details about the project and its long-term management.
While Ms Hale was advised that 134 Department of Housing properties neighbouring the Bay Street Depot site will be demolished, she was told that it was too early to determine how many would take their place.
“As a minimum there will be no loss of social housing units . . . [but the] number of units gained is yet to be determined,” according to the Government’s responses published online last week.
They were not able to confirm the balance of public, private and affordable housing within the development, nor were able to answer where the revenue generated from the project would go or details about how the development will be managed.
The City of Sydney and NSW Government announced the $260 million project in May as part of a broader initiative to increase affordable housing in the inner-city.
