GIG: NAKED ON THE VAGUE

GIG: NAKED ON THE VAGUE

Visit the band Naked on the Vague’s (NOTV) website and you are greeted by a grainy, black and white photo of a smiling balloon and a ram’s head. Go to the venue CAD’s homepage, a whimsical spiel about being, “A factory full of ill-breed people behaving in irresponsible and dishonourable ways” as well as some stuff about gut-rutting cats. Combine the two, as will be done on Sat Oct 17, and you’re in for a night of devilish, unambiguously delightful distractions, and perhaps a fur-ball or two. The odd couple unite for the lunar-length love-fest for local radio station 2ser – and perfectly sum up its ethos. Bushbashing from the beaten path? Check – NOTV create what’s been described by “Off-off-off-centre pop … smothered with a dirty pillow and left for dead in a trash can in some seedy back alley” by Polaroids of Androids, and are signed to the label with a name for quirk, Dual Plover. CAD Factory is even harder to decipher – situated in the backstreets of Marrickville, it claims to be, “Beyond any wank” and seems to play host to various art installations and film shoots. Told simply this is a night of super strangeness, but worth it all the same. 2ser would be proud.

Sat Oct 17, 8pm, CAD Factory, 5 Handley St Marrickville, $10 at the door, all ages, 2ser.com/30
