Free workshops for small enterprises

The City of Sydney will play host to free workshops designed to offer advice to small business owners.

The series of free 101 workshop schemes are from April to October.

The next workshop called Development Applications will be on Wednesday May 2 at Circular Quay.

The 101 Workshops cover issues regarding Development Applications and setting up a business around the theme of food, pop-up events, small bars and live music.

City of Sydney staff, industry representatives, NSW government agencies and others will present their tips and experiences.

Food Business 101 was the first workshop and was held last week.

The secrets of a successful business were shared by Co-Founder and Director of the Vivo Cafe Group, Angela Vithoulkas.

“Small business is big business, And I’m living proof,” she said.

“Over the last 26 years I’ve seen the twists and turns that help build your business into a great brand when you take the opportunities, even if you’re not one of the big players.”

“As a keynote presenter I am now lucky enough to be able to share my passion for small business and the insights I’ve learned over the years with small business owners, entrepreneurs, managers and business teams,” she said.

Some took to Twitter to express their appreciation for the workshop.

Rebecca Paget tweeted: “@twitanita @cityofsydney you should come next time! The food businesses 101 workshop was good, very informative.”

Anita Hawkins said: “Love that @cityofsydney is holding business 101 workshops – How to start and run a small bar, live music venue, pop ups”

The City of Sydney’s official website provides details of the event for anyone who missed the workshop.

The general public is able to download informative documents including the Food Business development application and the membership application form online.
