Fred’s on fire for photography

It was indeed a happy new year for Fred Taylor from Glebe who won the City of Sydney’s New Year’s Eve photo competition.

The shot was taken from the top of Goldfield’s House on Circular Quay with a Nikon D40x camera, which was held onto a ledge to keep it steady. The original shot was in colour.

Mr Taylor, 23, found out about the competition on the Flickr site and entered the shot on impulse. He works in administration, goes to uni at night and is just getting into photography after buying the camera some months ago.

There were over 400 entries to the competition and Mr Taylor wins a number of prizes including a meal at Café Sydney and a $250 voucher to spend on camera gear.
