Two new additions to my drinking repertoire this month were Solerno [RRP $70], a Sicilian blood orange liqueur, and Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old [RRP $170]. The former is made by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie (also responsible for Hendrick’s Gin) and scrubs up best built in a cocktail with ice and sparkling wine. The rather sublime single malt Scotch whisky should of course be savoured alone.  Its spicy, honeyed, vanilla characteristics might incline you to behave quite inappropriately if you consume it with others. Frankly this one is so good, I could seriously just smell it for days…
