Festival returns to rock the Pav

By Ben Storey

Forget the cold, it’s time to get your dancing shoes out again because the Bondi Music Festival is back and it looks fantastic.

In its ninth year now, the festival showcases some truly awesome independent musicians from Sydney, including Fait Accompli, King Tide and Declan Kelly.

Previous years have seen up to 2000 people attend the festival at the Bondi Pavilion. Based on that track record, organisers are hoping for a big turnout.

The festival boasts a wide variety of musical genres guaranteed to satisfy any tastes. Reggae, dub and Hip-Hop will be sharing the stage with rock, funk and soul on the day, so get ready for some groovin’.

Organisers say they aim to promote unsigned as  well as  established bands, and to host a fresh line up of cutting edge performances giving special attention to acts local to the Bondi area.

Over 30 bands will play at the Bondi Pavilion from midday until midnight Saturday July 25.

Promoter Dave Fester spoke about the green aspect of the festival, saying the impact to the local environment is minimal. When comparing that to other outdoor festivals, such as Earth Dance pre-relocation, this will be a breath of fresh air.

Also featured at this year’s festival will be MC’s, DJ’s, magicians and roving entertainers, workshops and a variety of food and market stalls.

Tickets can be purchased on the day, but for presale information go to http://www.myspace.com/bondimusicfestival
