Fashion comes to the Wharf

Pyrmont will celebrate Melbourne Cup in style next Tuesday with the WOW Fashion on the Wharf event held at Jones Bay Wharf.

“It’s a gorgeous venue and I think people are going to be really impressed,” event organiser Melanie Champion said.

“Obviously we are praying for good weather.

“Nobody has really done anything like this before and I don’t know why. I would like to make this an annual thing.”

A Pyrmont local Ms Champion says the event will feature local artists such as Mike Champion, Veruschka Pestano and C-Major.

Local performer Mike Champion says the event will be a good way to showcase local artists.

“Pyrmont has a really thriving art scene,” he said.

“I think a lot of people don’t realise it unless they’re in it but it’s out there.”

Singer Veruschka Pestano says she thinks the venue will make an ideal backdrop to the day’s festivities.

“I’m really looking forwards to performing on Melbourne Cup day,” she said.

“I think it’s going to go off.”

The event’s fashion component begins at 2:15pm and will feature designs by Valerie Jaquet, Voislav, O Hara designs, Guipurean Lotis, 7pers Australia and Lady Vintage.

The event will also feature a draw with proceeds going to the Make a Wish foundation for children suffering from terminal cancer.

The event will run from 12pm – 4pm on the water at Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont.
