EAT NOISE & THE LOCIES

EAT NOISE & THE LOCIES

This year Sydney’s Eat Noise & The Locies music festival and awards will be held at the Sandringham Hotel Newtown. In its 9th year running, it is a celebration of young, independent and local talent, showcasing on three stages, to promote consistent growth of the live music scene.

With iconic music venue, The Sandringham Hotel, going into receivership we saw 3,000 people rally on the streets and outside the venue in a hope to save our live music scene. “It’s time to stop blaming government’s, venue owners, bookers, promoters, Pokie machines…” says Ron Baumann, creator of Eat Noise. “There’s only one sure way to keep our local music scene alive and that is, to get down to gigs. If a tenth of the people willing to attend a rally, were willing to go see new music, we wouldn’t have a problem.”

Baumann has been a promoter, booker, event organiser and has worked in Sydney’s music and entertainment industry for over two decades. “In the eighties we had movies, footy, the pub and the disco for entertainment,” he continues. “Things have changed. There are a lot of other sources of entertainment and there was also, more of a community spirit.”

Eat Noise will showcase 14 local acts ranging from Folk/Acoustic, Rock, Progressive and Burlesque. BearClaw Productions are official sponsors of The Locies, donating recording time to the best new band and $5 from entry fee is donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Sep 15, 4pm-12pm, The Sandringham Hotel, 387 King St, Newtown, $25 on the door
