Correction: Jenny Macklin
The article “Marching against the intervention”, in City News on June 3 stated that “None of the promised Indigenous housing has been erected.” The article omitted that this was a claim made by activists who attended said march.
The office of Jenny Macklin MP says this claim is incorrect, and that 13 new houses have been completed and over 80 additional houses are underway. Across the Territory, 350 refurbishments of existing houses have been completed or are underway.
Ms Macklin’s office also denies the allegation that “during a recent radio interview, Ms Macklin floated the idea of removing Indigenous children from their parents if they are unable to regularly attend school.” Again this was a claim made by activists.
