Chinatown gets $10,000 spring clean

A $10,000 grant from the NSW Government to help clean up Chinatown has been awarded in support a new City of Sydney litter prevention campaign.
Labor’s Penny Sharpe MLC announced the ‘Green Clean Chinatown’ campaign last week to draw awareness among businesses of the impact of rubbish on the streets.
“The campaign will see businesses provided with an education kit, including a checklist of litter and waste minimisation strategies and promotional resources to extend the message to staff and customers,” Ms Sharpe said.
The grant will also help fund special promotional events where bilingual education stalls will be set up around the area.
“This is a pilot project and the intention is to extend it throughout the diverse communities of the City of Sydney local government area,” she said.
The extra money has from the Government’s $339,000 Council Litter Prevention Grants Program.
