BRISCOE – FRIENDS AGO
One-time drummer of Sydney funk/soul outfit Kid Confucius Bart Denaro swaps his drumstool for the gig as frontman of local group Briscoe. Friends Ago is a country tinged indie-pop affair that’s got lots of heart – featuring songs of love, loss and alienation; usual fare for most bands however don’t underestimate the DIY ethic that’s present here that coaxes you into loving it. There’s a couple of moshing-on-the-couch tunes like Day Job and B.O.T.S. but it’s the intimacy of tracks like Animal and All I Need’s A Holiday that are going to win you over.
