BODY OF LIES
Body of Lies comes across as your typical Middle East espionage thriller but has a sophistication that its predecessors were lacking. Leonardo DiCaprio is compelling as CIA operative Roger Ferris who is fighting for his country and his life amidst a sea of lies and deceit, whilst Russell Crowe, as crafty CIA veteran Ed Hoffman, showcases a dry humorous side of his repertoire scarcely seen before. A forced romance and sometimes stilted plot progression detract slightly from the overall feel of the film, but Ridley Scott (Bladerunner) still does a great job portraying the post 9/11 war on terror. Body of Lies is a better than average political thriller which definitely separates itself from a recently over populated genre. (Troy Nicholson)
