BILL JACKSON-JERILDERIE

BILL JACKSON-JERILDERIE

Melbourne based country music veteran Bill Jackson has written, compiled, composed and recorded his latest album Jerilderie over the last 4 years. Doing most of the writing with his brother Ross and recorded mainly in Nashville Tennessee with local musicians  in the vibrant Nashville country scene. The rest of the supplemental recording was done back home in Melbourne. Most of the lyrical content here centres around imagery of rural Australia, obviously Jerilderie and also the Kelly Gang, eluding to the hold up in said town. There are also tales from the U.S. Particularly Texas. There is no doubt that the musicians are highly skilled and songs written and arranged well. The problem is it is country by numbers, even at the  first listen it feels as though you might have heard these songs before. The same melodies, arrangements, rhymes and ideas. There is nothing new here, and unfortunately unless you are heavily in to both types of music, country and western, then there is nothing that threatens to hold your attention beyond the first listen.
