BAILA BRAZIL

BAILA BRAZIL

Four years after bringing their first show to Sydney Balé de Rua return to premier their new bigger and better show celebrating Brazilian culture Baila Brazil to the world at the Sydney Opera House.

Bringing all the colour and energy of life in Brazil to stage is something that creator Fernando Narduchi is very proud to have achieved. “Brazil is a wonderful country and culture with many different kinds of rhythms and music which we are very proud to share with the audience,” he says.

This show is an evolution of the first show from 2010 adding in new elements that lengthen the show to almost 80 minutes and bring to it more depth and energy. “For this version we have invited a new singer who is a very young girl with a wonderful voice, three new musicians, new dancers and added a lot of new music,” he explains. “In the first version we had percussion and a singer but still used a lot of prerecorded music but now all of the music is performed live on stage.”

After spending two years preparing the original show Narduchi admits that when the decision was made to add all of the new elements he was very anxious and worried that it may be very difficult to arrange all the elects together. “[Thankfully] from the first moment we all met there was a very good chemistry and after working together for many hours everyday over the past six months we are very happy with the result,” he continues.

Despite the success that Balé de Rua received internationally, from Sydney to Paris to London, Narduchi has always remembered his roots in Brazilian dance culture. Originally trained in classical and contemporary dance he only came across Brazilian street dance by chance in the early 80s as he rode his bike past a group of boys dancing and was immediately entranced by the style. Over time he joined in to learn as much as he could. Years later he has his own schools in his home town where he produces all of the new young talent for his company. “Today we have dancers that weren’t even born when we started the company which makes us very proud.”

Narduchi and his entire company is very excited to return to Australia. “In 2010 the Sydney crowd was very good to us and we have very good memories. We are bringing the best we have for you from our heart and from our soul.”
