ANNUAL GROUP SHOW 2012

ANNUAL GROUP SHOW 2012

From the bright yellow of Pineapple Park to the playfulness of Richard Kean’s I and We (Bachelard’s Corner), a mounted guitar string, Factory 49’s Annual Group Show is an eclectic collection of abstract art. The innovative artists have used light, sound and interactivity to challenge and stimulate their audience. Melanie E Khava’s work demands attention from the viewer, who has to bend to see it. She calls the piece, Un(der)titled, and has used a mix of paint, thread, paper and backlight to produce it. Chris Suttie’s OTIOSE (French for useless) is a witty comment on the art industry, while Alan Rose’s Untitled allows light to frolic upon the canvas creating rainbows on its surface. The 7-year-old Factory 49 is aptly located in an industrial area of Marrickville. They plan to open a space in Paris to showcase Australian abstract art.
