ANDREW MORRIS – THE SITUATIONIST
The sixth album from Brisbane-born folkster Andrew Morris, The Situationist boasts influences spanning from writings on counter-consumer culture (Tom Hodgkinson) to a word-setting of A B Patterson’s The Uplift. Also featuring covers of Dylan, Tim Rogers (Heavy Heart) and a nostalgic take on on Gillian Welch’s Look at Miss Ohio, The Situationist is split between tributes and originals. The covers are mesmerising, but Morris’ talents are undeniable when it comes to his originals. From the rollicking opening Shadow to the sassin’ punching organ of Flicker (giving Boy & Bear a run for their money), The Situationist bursts with warm folk/alt tones and experienced musicality.
