The fifth studio album from the British soul and R&B singer is a breath of fresh air from an artist that doesn’t let vocal acrobatics get in the way of old fashioned feeling and melodic ingenuity. To Dust is packed with the sounds of neo-soul, funk, electronica and the soul balladry that allows Russell to showcase her vocal prowess, not that anyone has doubted it over the years, and her maturity as a thoughtful lyricist. After all these years Alice Russell might just be ready to hog the soul diva limelight.
