ALANNA CHEROTE – PAPER FLOWER

ALANNA CHEROTE – PAPER FLOWER

Even though the dulcet tones of Alanna Cherote are similar to quite a few other young indie women (Inara George from The Bird and The Bee; Leslie Feist from Feist; or Nina Persson from The Cardigans), it would be safe to say that this Sydney singer/songwriter could be the next big thing. She’s attractive; a natural on the camera; and most importantly her music is a treat to listen to. Paper Flower was released three years after her four-track EP, Universal Need, and it’s full of melodies that are sweet and smooth as honey. She has toured all around Europe, the US and Canada (the Canadians adore her) and her songs are about her travels and past loves. Thankfully, they avoid the wishy-washy lyrics found in mainstream pop and some of her more colourful topics involve magic fingers and sparkle pants. This would be an ideal album to listen to on a Sunday night to help you drift off to a sweet, deep sleep.
