AGNSW OPEN WEEKEND

AGNSW OPEN WEEKEND

That bastion of the Sydney art world, The Art Gallery of New South Wales (or Aggy, as its admirers and comrades so affectionately call it) is swinging wide its big, old doors for an Open Weekend to celebrate the re-opening of the Grand Courts. From Saturday 12th till Sunday 13th September (10am-5pm both days), the Gallery will be the place to be for FREE cultural fun. Activities include: FREE easel drawing workshops, FREE tours with Gallery director Edmund Capon, FREE sculpture & painting demonstrations and more FREE talks than you can poke a stick. Jack Thompson will swing by for a reading of Henry Lawson’s campfire yarns (FREE, of course) and kids will be kept busy with the Commedia dell’ arte Puppetry performance and interactive character tours. If that wasn’t enough: those fancy audio tours you’ve only ever dreamed of indulging in will be – you guessed it: FREE! NB: Smug satisfaction of being culturally superior to everyone you know is not guaranteed – but highly likely.

Sept 12-13, Art Gallery of New South Wales, The Domain, 9225 1700 or artgallery.nsw.gov.au/openweekend
