Aaron Aryadharma Matheson welcomes the public to his exhibition Forever’s gonna start tonight, at the Liverpool Street Gallery. The exhibition will showcase a collection of seven of Matheson’s major paintings and four studies, offering us the insight into the curiosity that image and painting reveal the wholeness of life.

“The reason I make art is in fact to find out why I am doing it —a continual return to the unrepeatable touch of the breath, to the gossamer of a brushstroke — it’s recursive.” Matheson says.

“There is a friction between the aspiration of the title’s words and the futility of their fulfilment, that summons both the fragility and robustness of dreams”.

Viewers will note the distinctness of Matheson’s blend of colours and tones that bring about the familiar imagery of summer, honing into the sense of tranquillity and a hopefulness that he describes as something that sometimes can only be understood through image. Matheson’s paintings hold with them a warmth that in turn reflects the gentleness and grace that he himself navigates with.

The collection of acrylics and pigment on canvas depict notable images of summertime surfers, beachgoers, and lakes, in his unique style that viewers will be able to imagine themselves in, escape and be comforted by.

This exhibition will revel into the fascinating artistry that Matheson brings forth, examining the metaphor of searching/dreaming for a greater significance in living that can be understood through painting.
