English singer-songwriter Beth Orton performs as part of the Singular Voices series at Sydney’s City Recital Hall. The award-winning talent will return to Australia this November for her East Coast headline tour.

Orton’s upcoming performance, accompanied by her full band, will be her first Sydney show in six years.

Renowned for her captivating, emotive vocals, Orton is set to perform her critically acclaimed record Weather Alive. The record was entirely self-produced from her home studio in London, with the foundations of the songs composed in her garden shed. Various collaborators joined creative forces with Orton for Weather Alive, including jazz poet Alabaster dePlume and drummer Tom Skinner from the English rock band Smile.

Orton’s most recent performances were held at the 2023 Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and the UK Glastonbury Festival. These shows marked the end of her European and UK tour with American rock band The War On Drugs.

Throughout her career, Orton has worked with electronic musicians, including The Chemical Brothers, Andrew Weatherall, and William Orbit, who have all influenced her distinctive sound. She has since made a name for herself as a pioneer of the electronic and trip-hop music genres.

Over the course of her seven albums, Orton has explored a range of different genres, moving from light folk storytelling to dark and brooding experimentalism.

Across multiple music and sound expeditions, Beth Orton has proved herself to be a highly evocative singer and songwriter capable of collaborating with all sorts of artists.

Tickets to see Orton’s powerful onstage performance are currently on sale through the City Recital Hall website. Grab them while they last!
