Italian Film Festival 2020

Italian Film Festival 2020

This year the 21st Italian Film Festival will only screen 18 feature films and one short, due to the COVID-19 interrupted  selection process. Owing to social distancing requirements, there will be no after parties or other large-scale events but the opening and closing nights will feature a celebratory drink on arrival before an excellent film.

Pinocchio opens the festival and I found Matteo Garrone’s interpretation very dark and visually striking,” explained Festival Director Elysia Zeccola. “I found it very powerful and full of universal messages that still resonate strongly.”

Festival attendees who love a great comedy won’t be disappointed in I Hate Summer.

“Purely for the escapism, we’re all craving right now, this joyous summer comedy transports us to an idyllic beach location where three families have accidentally been booked into the same holiday house at the same time!”

“Nothing beats the magic of cinema, feeling the tension in the room during a thriller, or laughing out loud with strangers during a comedy. Italian cinema not only showcases the country’s artists and culture but as a much-loved destination, gives us the chance to visit its beautiful regions – if only on screen for now.” (MMo)
