The NSW Police have charged 732 people with a total of 1,589 offences in just three days. Carried out as part of Operation Amarok XIV, which ran from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August, the mission targeted repeat, wanted, and high-risk domestic and family violence offenders across NSW.
The operation included the execution of 228 arrest warrants, as well as 12,054 apprehended domestic violence compliance checks, the latter of which identified 321 alleged breaches. Officers also conducted 1,497 bail compliance checks, identifying a further 225 alleged breaches. A total of 118 firearms and 16 other weapons were also seized over the course of the operation. 31 of these firearms were confiscated from premises in NSW’s metropolitan area.
The Domestic & Family Violence Crackdown’s Findings Are “Sobering”
“The recent results of Operation Amarok are sobering,” said Jodie Harrison, Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. “But it also means many more victim-survivors are safer at home and in the community.
“With our Police now working with ACT Police in this recent operation, perpetrators can no longer escape by crossing the border.”
While this marks Operation Amarok’s 14th deployment since its first in 2023, this was the first instance NSW Police partnered with ACT Policing during the operation. It comes just one year after Australia again recorded its highest number of women murdered in a domestic and family violence context in 2025.
“732 people charged. 1,589 offences. Three days. These are the results police deliver when we back them with the resources and support to crack down on offenders,” said Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley.
“The Minns Government supports this operation and backs every officer going through doors to protect victim-survivors. These alleged offenders rely on fear and control. Amarok turns that pressure back onto them.”
Operation Amarok has resulted in over 8,000 arrests and over 16,500 charges since its first deployment. Coordinated by the NSW Police Domestic and Family Violence Command, the operation coordinates NSW police districts, high-risk offender teams, specialist commands, and most recently, inter-state police cooperation.
