Giving the conservatives a voice in Sydney

Christian Democratic Party (CDP) candidate for Sydney, Peter Madden, has labeled Clover Moore’s work as MP as “detrimental”.

“From a perspective of the family and family values, she has been detrimental to Sydney,” he said.

Having never been involved in politics before, Mr Madden is contesting the seat “to be a voice at time of great social and moral upheaval”.

He said he is the only conservative voice in the Sydney electorate and the only “non-green” contesting.

Mr Madden expressed concern with Ms Moore’s “anything goes” agenda and said she would promote the view of the Greens in the lower house.

He condemned the Greens policies, labeling them as “very dangerous” and “anti-Christian”.

“Really what the Greens party is, is a communist party with nice green, fuzzy, warm veneer,” he said.

“They believe a healthy dog is more valuable than a disabled person.”

He said his main concern was to “expose what the Greens are all about”.

Locally, Mr Madden identified the development of bike lanes, Mardi Gras, teenage binge drinking and brothels as his main issues he is campaigning on.

He labeled Mardi Gras as the “crown of a lot of other issues” and called for the parade to be held in a stadium, rather than the streets, to curb dangerous teenage behaviour.

“[Mardi Gras is the] worst night of drugs and drug distribution and alcoholism of the whole year,” he said.

He said Ms Moore’s implementation of bike lanes had in fact made traffic and business worse.

“I’m very much for development in the City of Sydney,” he said.

He said he was also campaigning against the running of brothels and wanted to close half of them down and get to the core of the issue: why women end up on the streets in the first place.

“I know the pain and destruction that prostitution and the availability of prostitution can do to families,” he said.

“I lost my family many years ago.”

He spoke of his concern of the Greens holding the balance of power in the upper house and said: “let’s stop calling them progressive, they’re regressive.”

The state election will be held this Saturday March 26.
