A young female professional was found dead in her George Street office after previously going out for work drinks at the Ivy nightclub on August 26. The Australian reported that the Ernst and Young employee attended a work function earlier in the night at the popular Sydney party spot before returning to the office.

The 33-year-old woman left the function at 7:30pm to return to her office building. The woman’s colleagues are said to have found her body just after midnight on August 27.

NSW Police report that emergency services were called to the scene, where they found the woman deceased. No further information on the incident, including the woman’s name, have been released by police.

Company investigation underway

Ernst and Young announced to The Guardian that a “comprehensive and wide-ranging” internal investigation will commence into health and safety in the workplace, following the death of the woman. The review will include the company’s chief mental health officer.

NSW Police say an investigation is underway and a coroners report will be prepared.
