U2 3D
U2 have always used visual technology to augment their music, but U2 3D takes the concert film to a new level. It’s a totally immersive stadium experience that puts you in the middle of the action. Cameras swoop over the crowd, Bono looks into your eyes, and you have to duck below The Edge’s guitar. There are layers of 3D and visual effects and a massive video wall, but take away the theatricals and you have a band playing classic songs that were written to be sung in unison ‘ real ‘goose bump’ stuff. IMAX improves on the concert experience with superior sound and vision, and you don’t have to shell out $100 to go. This is what 3D was made for.
