The Razor’s Edge Restaurant

Looking for a pre-theatre meal in the vicinity of the Enmore Theatre, my party of six were lucky to be squeezed in and accommodated both warmly and quickly at this hidden gem. The menu is small but it has eclectic influences; somehow though, they all hang together. My top bite went to the Vine Leaves with Mushroom, Barley and Ricotta ($14.80) ‘ the drier presentation of the vine leaves was nicely set off by the barley and accompanying hummus. The sweet grape reduction was a nicely contrasting accompaniment to a rich Gruyere and Cheddar Soufflé ($14.80); while fresh lime, green chilli and sour cream made the compelling Gnocchi with Beef Picadillo ($15.50) a successful fusion of Italian elements with south of the border flair. My dining companion polished off a main of Lamb Shanks ($27.80) with relish as I grazed through yet another entree – the Oriental Pork Belly Roulade ($15.50) which saw garlic and five spice rubbed pork belly rolled in nori on a bed of crisp noodles. To keep prices down, they are BYO only. The only distraction from the vivid art, vibrant flower arrangement and the extreme comfort of the chairs (beaten only by those armchairs at Astral) was the loud slam of the front door. I coped.
