As the name suggests, this stylish pub is located in a laneway just off one of Pyrmont’s most vibrant intersections. A favourite among sports fans, the Laneway is also a popular venue with families and locals, thanks to its relaxed, comfy decor and terrific menu.
Laneway was refreshed inside and out in 2020 with new branding and a new feel. The interior, which already featured large archways throughout, has been given a soft colour palette, mood lighting and modern fixtures with a distinctly Art Deco sensibility.
The long main bar is a feature, with its underlit, highly polished counter top, and beautifully presented bottles inside a mirrored arch at the back. It gives the place a touch of class. There is a room which features several big, comfy sofa chairs where you can relax with a drink and chat.
The main dining areas feature lots of tables and comfortable chairs, with some tables set by a full-length bench along one wall. This accommodates a variety of group sizes and needs. Large leafy plants and elegant decor help create a pleasant atmosphere.
There is also an outdoor terrace that opens onto the laneway where patrons can sit on stools with drinks on the counter top. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine and watch Pyrmont life drift by.
Laneway Hotel touts itself as a premium sports bar, catering to everything an avid sports-lover wants. There are several large screens mounted around the venue that can be viewed from almost anywhere in the hotel. With access to major sports streaming and Ladbrokes services, patrons can enjoy a great meal and drink while watching the biggest events locally and overseas.
The program regularly features UFC, baseball, NFL, boxing, football and whatever big competition is currently happening. Coming up, of course, is Melbourne Cup. Come into Laneway for their special $30 Melbourne Cup deal: your choice of champas or beer plus your choice of Chicken Schnitzel salad and chips; beef burger and chips; Margherita pizza; or fish and chips. You also get a raffle ticket with a fantastic prize worth $649 to be drawn after the race.
If you’d prefer to do some competing yourself, get some friends together and come in for Monday trivia. Or test your skills with the Tuesday night poker tournament.
There are loads of great food specials during the week, too, including $18 lunch menu on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and their unbeatable $18 rump steak meal on Thursday.

If you’re passing by in the morning, you can stop at the cafe window and order a take-away coffee and snack. Come back in the evening between 4pm and 6pm for happy hour.
Laneway is open until 1am Thurs, Fri, Sat, and midnight from Sunday – Wednesday.
