Teenage girl in light rail accident identified

The young teenage girl who sadly passed away after becoming trapped under a tram in Sydney’s CBD last week has now been identified as 16-year-old Kyra Dulguime.
Dulguime became trapped under the light rail tram after attempting to cross over through the exterior coupling that connects the tram carriages to each other, after it was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Goulburn and George Streets.
The tram soon began moving and her body was dragged underneath to the Chinatown stop, where the driver was alerted.
Emergency services were quickly called to the scene and despite their best efforts, Dulguime could not be revived.
Tributes Pour In
Friends and family members have expressed their sorrows and posted their memories of the young teenager on social media.
“Gone too soon. Rest in paradise beautiful girl,” one person wrote.
Dulguime’s former football club, the Gwawley Bay Football Club also expressed their condolences, offering their “deepest sympathies to Kyra’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
“Gwawley Bay Gladiator teams are invited to wear black armbands at games this weekend, to honour Kyra’s memory.”
NSW Premier Comments
NSW Premier Chris Minns spoke on Friday 12th about the “terrible tragedy.”
“The young girl, I understand was from Blakehurst, which is in my electorate,” he said.
“I really feel for her family and her friends and it would be obviously devastating for her parents in particular.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Dulguime’s family with funeral costs and other finances. At the time of writing, it reached $32,136 and surpassed its initial $20,000 goal.
