Talent abounds at Women’s Jazz Festival
The Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival will take place this spring with an impressive line-up of of award-winning artists. The event, which has been running for twelve years, celebrates leading women of jazz.
This year’s headline performer is three-time Grammy winner, Cècile McLorin Salvant, who goes above and beyond to deliver high quality, artistic performances.
Salvant will play at the City Recital Hall on the October 31, leading a quartet consisting of piano, bass, and drums with her soaring vocals. Her stage presence is highly captivating as she implements her expressive and emotive voice to relay a narrative. Through her diverse art, Salvant has the power to transform any space into an atmospheric, creative realm.
The following days of the festival will host a variety of artists including Tina Harrod, Kate Wadley, Flora Carbo, Wilbur Whitta, and more. Each artist will perform in a space that is suited to their personal sound and styles. The shows will provide audiences with specific experiences ranging from warm and intimate to virtuosic.
On each night, at various venues, the festival aims to bring Artistic Director Zoe Hauptmann’s vision to life.
