SYDNEY YOUTH WRITING COMPETITION

SYDNEY YOUTH WRITING COMPETITION

With signature words ‘rock’ and ‘shadow’, it seems possible that 2009’s Sydney Youth Writing competition is at risk of being flooded with some superhero-heavy stories. You know, like, “Igneous-Man takes on the Shadow Puppets of Evil in an epic Earth-shattering battle”. Or possibly not, as no doubt kids in years 3-6 have much more creative mojo just waiting to be put to paper. And this competition – with prizes and publication on offer – is the perfect chance to do just that, either in story format (1000 words), a play (two A4 pages) or a poem (up to 25 lines). Last year the awards ceremony was hosted by, “Australia’s greatest living writer,” David Malouf. How many mini-Maloufs will be discovered this year, we wonder?

Open until Sept 5, applications and more information here sydneyyouthwriting.com
