Sydney Portugal Community Club To Host Larger Festivals With New Approvals
Sydney Portugal Community Club in Marrickville is expected to become Sydney’s newest festival venue, following council approval for the club to host large outdoor events throughout the year.
The Inner West Council has approved the club to hold up to five major events each year with a maximum of 5,000 attendees. It can also host ten smaller outdoor events for up to 3,500 attendees each. Guests can look forward to outdoor stages, food stalls, and pop-up bars at these events.
“This approval means the Sydney Portugal Club will become the latest festival venue in the Inner West, attracting people from all over Sydney for cultural events and live entertainment,” said Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne.
“This Club is a treasured institution in Marrickville that celebrates the richness of Portuguese culture, food and sport. With this approval they can now share that with a much wider audience and continue to make Marrickville one of Australia’s most diverse and vibrant suburbs.”
The Sydney Portugal Community Club
The Sydney Portugal Community Club has been a cultural hub for Sydney’s Portuguese community for years. Alongside its family-friendly restaurant and bar, the club supports the Fraser Park community’s and senior football teams, bringing people together through food, sports, and community events.
The venue is located near public transportation, including new Metro stations, making it accessible for crowds expected to attend future events at the community club.
“We want to support live music and performances and contribute to Marrickville’s unique and diverse community. This approval by Inner West Council means we can now hold some great events that will become high points of Marrickville’s vibrant cultural life for years to come,” said Paul Goncalves, Sydney Portugal Community Club Director.
“We have a great relationship with Council and Mayor Byrne and thank them for their ongoing support of our club, our community and Inner West artists and venues.”
“We’re determined to keep building the Inner West as the heart and soul of Sydney’s live music and entertainment scene. Now, the Portugal Community Club will be an exciting part of that future,” said Byrne.
